The project detailed below shows the design of a School for the Performing Arts in Blacksburg, VA.
The school was designed to facilitate creativity and inspiration by emphasizing three characteristics derived from personal experiences:
-A feeling of openness
-A perceived proximity to nature
-Control of natural light
The hand-drawn construction details are responsible for the project receiving multiple awards, namely the details for a curved greenwall. The greenwall is designed to allow the vegetation to naturally spread over the ground, blurring the line of "site" and "structure" and allowing the facade to be a true vertical extension of the site.
